Diamond-Encrusted Contact Lenses
“Is your daddy a thief? Because he stole some diamonds and put them in your sparkling eyes.”
Are you a victim of this pick-up line? If so, you are not alone. Currently, millions of women are suffering from a severe case of cheesiness. However, what if I told you that the pick-up line above was not a pick-up line at all, but merely a question…would you believe me?
Ladies, say hello to Dr. Chandrashekhar Chawan of the Shekhar Eye Research Center. Dr. Chandrashekhar Chawan runs an Oculoplasty center in India and is the man responsible for literally making eyes shine like the top of the Chrysler Building. His eye jewelry line, La Ser, features contact lenses each adorned with 18 diamonds speckled in a circular pattern onto a yellow or white gold ring that covers your eye’s iris. Weighing in at 5g, the diamond and gold embellishments sit on top of Boston Scleral lenses, keeping the rough jewels at a “safe” distance from your cornea (6-9mm). Although they are not FDA approved, Chawan hopes to sell the lenses outside of India. If you want eyes that literally light up a room, you better act fast. Only 3,996 pairs have been created.
The next time a guy stops to pick you up using a cheesy pick-up line about how your eyes sparkle like diamonds, toss your hair, smile coyly, and say “These bad boys cost me $15,000.”
