Even though the hero from the planet Krypton doesn’t need prescription glasses, they make a great disguise against the unsuspecting people of Metropolis who have never heard of contact lenses. Now the British actor, Henry Cavill, will be the latest to pick up the Superman mantle on the silver screen.
Cavill will be playing Superman in The Man of Steel, a remake of the Superman story at the hands of director Zack Snyder, who has directed other comic book to screen adaptations including 300 and Watchmen. The movie is slated to come out in 2012 and fans already have what appears to be a wish list, or else an all out marquee name extravaganza, of which Hollwood actors could or should play various related superheroes.
Cavill was apparently in line to play the Smallville-bred superhero in the 2006 flick, Superman returns, but when the filmed changed directors, he temporarily lost his shot. We’re happy for Cavill, and from the looks of it, he’ll make a great Clark Kent / Superman. We just hope someone told him that indiscriminate use of his laser vision could void the warranty on his chic eyewear.
